TFAT

The software TFAT gives you the next level in computer-based durability design. With its capabilities in fatigue life assessment based on results of finite-element analyses, TFAT gives the insights into your engineering components you need:

–       hot spots for fatigue cracks and fatigue lives,

–       efficient estimation of growth of small fatigue cracks in stress-gradients and

–       detailed understanding of the interaction of fatigue crack growth and structural behavior of the component.

The results will guide you to find new fatigue crack resistant designs without the need for time-consuming and costly trial-and-error hardware testing.

Fracture Mechanics

At ADACS, we are currently working on state-of-the-art fracture mechanics methods for failure prediction.

Concepts based on energy-released rate such as the J-Integral are used to predict the rate of propagation of fatigue-driven cracks through component material.

Our software can predict the location and direction of crack initiation.

It then uses fracture mechanics theory to predict the propagation of cracks based on sophisticated geometry modification and adaptive remeshing algorithms. These tools can be used to accurately estimate the lifetime of components based on the precision of fracture mechanics theory.

Advanced Material Testing & Modeling

The heart of any software for computer-based durability design are the underlying models and the appropriate material data. This is exactly where the advantage of the software TFAT lies: the models for fatigue life prediction are mechanism-based models, considering the relevant damage mechanisms and using results of fracture mechanics and findings of materials science. Hence, reliable predictions can be expected based on a limited materials data base. For frequently used materials, material data can be provided for TFAT. If you have material data available, the models can be calibrated to you own data.
